Isaac, Matthew and Ethan live in England. They take a school bus in the morning, and again in the afternoon. Which words do you think they will use when they are talking about this? Tick the boxes.

Lindis:Can you tell me, erm … how far do you live from school and how do you get to school?
Isaac:We live about 20 minutes away or something, erm … and we go on a bus … erm, but the bus takes like half an hour because we have to do different stops as well to get other people.
Ethan:[whispering] The crash …
Matthew:Oh yeah …
Isaac:We crashed twice.
Matthew:We have really bad drivers and like they just … Like the one at the moment isn’t too bad, but like we have … we had two really bad drivers and they like couldn’t change gear and stuff. And then one of them managed to hit a pole pulling out of school, and then instead of like t-, and then like the cover was hanging off and instead of pulling it off like by the school, he drove on to like this erm … oh, what is it? Like a dual … It’s not a dual carriageway, don’t know what it’s called. It’s like … ooh … what is it … ooh … it’s an A … I think it’s an A-road or something and then he stopped on the side of an A-road, which is really busy, and decided to take it off there.
Lindis:What was it that got hit or pulled off, did you say?
Matthew:Er, there was like … There’s like panels on the side of the bus which are covering different things and the one covering a fan like had whacked the pole, so he had to pull it off.
Lindis:So it was broken?
Matthew:Yeah.
Isaac:Yeah, and also there was this other time where there was like this big truck on the side of the road …
Matthew:I was ill on this one. I missed it.
Isaac:Yeah, and we erm … It was sort of in our way, the way we had to go, so we went past it and we bent this sign that was sticking out of it like that. It … it just curved around like that.
Ethan:And when I got to class I said, “Sorry Sir, I’m late. The bus crashed.” And everyone was like “The bus crashed?” and I’m like “Yeah, it’s not that important”.
Matthew:No like, no, because apparently everyone was really late, but th … there’s like – quite often because how you get in and out of school and how many buses there are and stuff. ‘cos like buses only carry about 70 people.
Lindis:How many people?
Matthew and Ethan:70 people.
Matthew:… and there’s a thousand people in the school so there’s a lot of buses to get in and out. [Mumbling]
Lindis:So does everyone come by bus, then?
Matthew:Er no, some people walk. You get about 200 people in school who walk from Aylsham.
Ethan:But – what we did today was really cool.
Matthew:What d’you do?
Ethan:We call it Unicorn Friday.
Matthew:Oh yeah. On the way back, on erm … whenever it’s Friday, on the way back from the bus I invented this thing where you basically take your tie off and strap it around your head and it’s Unicorn Friday.
Ethan:And all of a sudden, all the Year 11’s started doing it. They were so addicted …
Matthew:It’s quite funny.
Isaac:We should make this traditional on the bus forever.
Lindis:Every Friday?
Isaac and Ethan:Yeah.
Lindis:Unicorn Friday.
Matthew and Ethan:Yeah.
Matthew:They even carried it on when I was ill. Proud of them!
Ethan:I feel sorry for you.
